Get to Know Me as My Book Blog Turns 6 Months Old! 🎉
On July 28th, my little corner of the internet officially turned six months old. To celebrate my baby hitting the half-year mark, I decided to pause the usual scheduled content (which is why this post is fashionably late!) and do something a little more personal – a Get to Know Me!
Since I’m 25, I thought it would be fun to answer 25 bookish questions, one for each year of my life. These questions were suggested by friends and family, and together they paint a pretty full picture of who I am as a reader. They will be split into the easy quick bookish questions and the fun inquisitive ones that dig a little deeper.
So settle in, and let’s get to know each other a little better, bookworm style. 📚✨
Quick Fire Bookish Questions
📖 What’s the first book you remember loving as a child?
Cookie by Jacqueline Wilson was the first book I remember being absolutely obsessed with. I must’ve been around 9 years old, and it’s also the first book I ever reread multiple times. It had such a hold on me at that age!
📚 When did you get into reading?
Honestly, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t reading. My mum is a huge reader too, so it definitely rubbed off on me. My first memory as a full cognizant human being includes the ability to read so I assume I came out of my mother with the ability.
💘 What genre do you gravitate toward the most?
We all know the answer to this – Black Romance is my forever go-to. Bonus points if there’s an arranged marriage trope involved. That combination? Unmatched.
✍️ Do you have a favourite author?
I think so! Probably Christina C. Jones, I’ve read absolutely everything she’s written and have been obsessed with her work for the past five years.
If I could sneak in a second answer (and a dream interview), it would be Suzanne Collins. I’m deeply attached to The Hunger Games, and I feel like we could have such rich, insightful discussions about the socio-political themes in and beyond her books.
📘 What’s the most recent book you couldn’t put down?
I tend to read most books in one sitting if I have the time and I’m hooked, but the last one that really had me glued was Love You a Little Bit by Kasha Thompson.
😲 What’s a book that surprised you (in a good or bad way)?
Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang absolutely blew me away. I went in with zero expectations besides my friend begging me to read it and was completely shocked by how much I loved it. It was such a layered, powerful read.
📚 How many books do you read a week?
It really depends! On a good week when I’m in the zone, I can fly through 4 or 5 books. On a slower week, it’s more like 2. But never less than 1. I’m always reading something.
📖 What is your favourite classic book?
I know it’s a basic answer, but it’s got to be Animal Farm. I read it as a teenager and it’s stuck with me ever since.
Honourable mention: The Great Gatsby. I love that book, it’s such a fun and chaotic ride, and I had a blast reading it.
💖 Book I Always Recommend to Others
In romance? Anything by Kennedy Ryan, you all know how much I love her. Reel gets recommended every day of the week.
Outside of romance, I’m constantly talking about Yellowface by R.F. Kuang. That book gave me so much to discuss.
🚫 What’s a hyped book you didn’t enjoy?
Depends on what we mean by “hyped,” but one book I definitely didn’t enjoy—and would never recommend—is A Little Life. I couldn’t get through it and I dont regret not reading it fully.
🎬 Best Book-to-Movie Adaptation
Okay, hear me out – and I know this is going to sound ridiculous – but based on the actual quality of the books, the best book-to-movie adaptation is Twilight. I’m so sorry to say it… but also, I’m not. 😂
Now the Fun Bookish Questions

💅 Petty Reasons I’ve DNF’d a Book
Bad grammar (though I don’t even think that’s petty).
Also: a book that references the real world or social media in a non satirical or social commentary type of way. Nothing I hate more than a social media ass book.
🚫 If You Had to Ban a Genre, What Would It Be?
Honestly? Autobiographies. Or really, anything non-fiction (if that counts as a genre). I know it sounds wild, but I just don’t believe in non-fiction books. Just give me a documentary, please and thank you.
🎨 Do you judge a book by its cover (honestly)?
Honestly? Not really, unless the cover looks outright ridiculous. That’s when I might steer clear.
That said, in the world of self-published eBooks, a good cover can definitely draw me in. I’m more likely to check something out if the design is eye-catching or intriguing.
One thing I don’t like? Covers with real people on them or AI . I’ll make an exception for illustrated characters or drawn art, but actual photos of people? It’s a no from me.
(Quan Millz, I’m looking directly at you.)
🧠 If your memory were erased, what book would you want to experience again for the first time?
Ooooh… honestly, this is such a hard question! There are so many books I wish I could experience for the first time all over again. But if I had to go with the first one that comes to mind, it would be Clayton and Dallas by Rachel Mills.
I love these books. I’ve read them multiple times, and they hold such a special place in my heart. It’s hands down one of the best stories I ever discovered on Wattpad. When Rachel Mills self-published, I immediately reread them, and I’ve gone back to them again and again ever since.
If I could erase my memory and relive that story from scratch? I’d do it in a heartbeat.
😬 A Book I Loved While Reading… But Later Realized Wasn’t Well-Written
Honestly? Almost everything I read on Wattpad during that era. Also, I went through a major Colleen Hoover phase in my late teens/early twenties, and let’s just say… she’s not an author I look back on fondly. #Growth.
🐌 Longest Time It Took you to Finish a Book
It took me three and a half years to finish I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. The book was so boring I put it down and forgot it existed. But back then I was anti-DNF, so it just sat in my “currently reading” pile for literal years before I finally finished it. And sadly, I have many stories like that😅.
🌌 What fantasy world would you holiday in?
Someone also asked me which Court I’d belong to in A Court of Thorns and Roses, and honestly, that answer doubles as the fantasy world I’d vacation in: The Night Court.
Not because I’m obsessed with Rhysand , but because it’s described like a literal dream, especially Velaris. That city feels like magic, safety, and creativity wrapped into one. It’s everything I’d want in a fictional escape.
“Around us, the city twinkled, the stars themselves seeming to hang lower, pulsing with ruby and amethyst and pearl. Above, the full moon set the marble of the buildings and bridges glowing as if they were all lit from within. Music played, strings and gentle drums, and on either side of the Sidra, golden lights bobbed over riverside walkways dotted with cafes and shops, all open for the night, already packed.

Life- so full of life. I could nearly taste it crackling on my tongue.”
That entire passage? Yeah. I’ll be booked and busy in Velaris.
📚 A childhood series you’ll never forget
I read everything as a kid, so this is a tough one. But if I had to choose, it would be The Medusa Project by Sophie McKenzie. I swear I was the only person who read these books, but I was absolutely obsessed.
It was one of the first YA sci-fi series I ever fell in love with, right in the era of The Hunger Games, Noughts and Crosses, Matched, CHERUB – so many iconic series were popping off. But for me? The Medusa Project was it.
Can I tell you what happened in any of the books? Absolutely not. 😂 But I remember the obsession, and that’s what counts.
🧠 What book would you delete from your brain if you could?
This is definitely recency bias, but I need to scrub The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose from my memory. That book? A six-pack of ass. 😭
👯♀️ Which two book characters would you befriend in real life?
I’ve read so many characters I’ve loved, but if I’m picking ones who remind me of my friends:
- Charadee from Bless Your Heart by AshleyNicole – she’s blunt, hilarious, and completely unapologetic.
- Takira from Reel and The Close-Up by Kennedy Ryan – she’s loyal and genuinely supportive (while also being funny as hell).
☠️ 3 books you’d recommend to your arch nemesis
This question cracked me up. None of these books are alike in any way, but they all made me finish them and go, “What the hell was that?”
- Work Husband by Octavia Grant
- Little Rot by Akwaeke Emezi
- Capone III by Jacquel J (you have to read Books 1 & 2 first, which are actually good… before it all unravels)
😈 Which villain or morally grey character do you unironically root for?
I have many answers to this question from a plethora of genres, but honestly? Basically everyone from Game of Thrones. Let’s be real, there are barely any purely good characters in that entire series, and that’s what makes it so compelling.
Rooting for Jon Snow is the easy answer (and yes, we love him), but the morally grey characters are where the real intrigue lies. I was fully invested in characters like Cersei and Jaime, not because they were right, but because they were fascinating, layered, and completely unapologetic in their ambition.
Game of Thrones made it impossible not to root for the morally questionable.
🐉 If you were dropped into your favourite book world, what’s the first thing you’d do?
Okay, I don’t love the Empyrean series, but I absolutely adore the universe and the lore that’s been built. So best believe the first thing I’m doing is finding a dragon to bond with, and we’re going for a ride. No hesitation. Might I die? Possibly. Will I still do it? Absolutely.
💘 What do you look for in a book boyfriend?
I actually have a whole post ranking book boyfriends (because of course I do), but here’s the quick criteria: I need devotion, consistency, and big romantic gestures.
Bonus points if he’s a billionaire – but only in books, let’s be clear. In real life? Eat the rich.
I also cannot stand a man with no backbone. I need him to stand on business – lovingly. My biggest ick? A rude man. Talk to women sideways in a book, and I’ll DNF so fast you won’t believe it.
I hope you enjoyed this get to know me and you feel like you know a little bit more about me now! I am so proud of my little book blog and the fact that I’ve stuck to it for the past 6 months. It hasn’t been easy but I’ve loved every second and I hope you enjoy being here too!
I would love to hear some of your answers to these bookish questions too! What are you best and worst reads? What morally grey characters do you love? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks for reading and see you again soon!
