Join me on my journey
I’m a 26-year-old book lover, completely obsessed with reading. In 2024, I set out to find a reading community to expand my horizons. By October, I joined a book club and realized how much I love discussing books, sharing thoughts, and uncovering the lessons they teach us about the world and ourselves. If I’m not reading, I’m thinking about books or adding more to my never-ending TBR list. So, here we are, finally starting a book blog to share my thoughts, discoveries, and everything I’ve learned from the books I love. Welcome to In Novel Company!

Book vs Screen – Project Hail Mary
A great adaptation doesn’t recreate every detail — it preserves the feeling. Project Hail Mary does exactly that, capturing the heart, humour, and hope of the story while transforming it into a cinematic experience. In this post I explore the rare case where both book and film stand strong, complementing each other perfectly.

Book vs Screen – Wuthering Heights (2026)
The 2026 Wuthering Heights takes bold creative liberties, streamlining Emily Brontë’s story into a passionate, visually stunning dark romance, while the book is a dark, layered gothic epic about generational trauma. In this post I explore why I don’t believe they should be compared and what this ‘adaptation’ means in the world of creativity.

Book vs Screen – People We Meet on Vacation
We begin our month of love with a critical look at The People We Meet on Vacation as both novel and film. A movie I watched on a whim, this post is an exploration of why the film feels emotionally lighter than the novel, how major plot changes reshape Poppy and Alex’s relationship, and which version hits home for me.

Book vs Screen – One Day (Netflix Series)
One Day is a bittersweet story about love, timing, and all the almost-moments that shape our lives. After falling completely in love with the Netflix adaptation, I finally picked up the book to see how the original compared. Both versions deliver the emotion and heartache, yet each brings its own strengths, proving this story was truly made to be adapted.

Book vs Screen – Noughts and Crosses
Noughts and Crosses brings Malorie Blackman’s powerful story of love, race, and resilience to life on screen. With a vibrant Afro-futuristic setting, strong performances, and a compelling narrative, the adaptation celebrates Black British people, offering both long-time fans and new audiences an engaging and visually striking portrayal of this essential story.

Book vs Screen – The Fault in Our Stars – My Favourite Adaptation
The Fault in Our Stars was the first book that ever made me cry, and the film only deepened that heartbreak. Both the novel and film adaptation capture the same unforgettable love story, but through different strengths. With faithful storytelling, powerful performances, and a heartfelt tone, the adaptation proves how John Green’s story thrives in both mediums without losing its impact.
