Welcome back to my TBR Update!
I have not read a single book on my TBR! 🙈
Okay, so this isn’t entirely true. About two weeks ago, when I realised my pledge from last month’s post to actually work through my TBR was failing miserably, I did manage to read one. The Bright Years, and I don’t regret it one bit. What a beautiful book!
The original plan was simple: just add two new books to the TBR. But, I completely forgot I’d already chosen a second book… and then picked another one on top of that. So now, instead of two, I’ve got three. So here’s what’s new on my TBR!
As usual, if you’d like to see the full list, follow me on Goodreads and Fable.
The Books I Read

Remaining Books

I’m reading Razorblade Tears as I write this, so we’re making progress.
3 New Books!
Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Genre: Historical Sports Fiction
Once the greatest tennis player in the world, Carrie comes out of retirement at 37 to defend her record against a rising star. The novel explores the grit, isolation, and sacrifice behind elite success while peeling back Carrie’s tough exterior to reveal vulnerability, love, and the complicated cost of greatness. It’s equal parts sports drama and emotional character study.
I really enjoy Taylor Jenkins Reid’s writing. I’ve only read two of her books so far, but both left me completely satisfied. She has a way of writing so eloquently while weaving in just the right amount of dramatic flair to keep me hooked. The buzz around Carrie Soto Is Back feels like it was made for me. I actually stumbled across it on Twitter, and after scrolling through the comments filled with glowing reviews, I knew I had to pick it up immediately.
The Re-Write by Lizzie Damilola Blackburn

Genre: Black British Romance
Temi and Wale meet in London. They flirt, date, meet each other’s friends… then Wale dumps Temi to go on Love Villa. Instead of giving in to heartbreak, Temi throws herself into her writing. She’s within touching distance of a book deal that would solve all her problems. But publishers keep passing on her novel, and bills still have to be paid. So, when the opportunity to ghostwrite a celebrity autobiography arises, Temi finds herself accepting. And, of course, the celebrity turns out to be Wale… Has too much time passed, or just enough to spark a whole new kind of relationship?
Any chance I get to read a Black British book – I’ll take it. I love stories that mirror my own lived experience, from the language to the vibe. The ReWrite came out in August, but it’s been on my radar for a while. I’m steering clear of reviews; if I see something negative, it might put me off, and I really want to go in fresh.
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Genre: Young Adult Romance
Every summer, Belly has spent her days at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher, the two brothers who have always been part of her life. But this year, something shifts—romance, heartbreak, and family dynamics collide in a story about first love, friendship, and the bittersweet transition from childhood to adulthood.
I’ve always loved Jenny Han’s writing. I’ve read the entire To All the Boys series along with a couple of her standalones, but surprisingly, I’ve never picked up The Summer I Turned Pretty. Lately, though, it feels like everyone on social media is talking about the TV adaptation, Belly this, Conrad that. I don’t usually get FOMO, but I really want to watch it. However, I have to read it first! . Luckily, Han’s books are quick reads, so I’m planning to dive into the trilogy soon. If all goes well, I’ll report back in November’s book vs screen.
It’s my birthday month, so I’m not doing anything I dont want to do, TBR included, so I can’t guarantee I’ll make it through any of these books or the previous like 15 I’ve refused to read. However, I did choose books I really want to read, so I can only hope. I do post regular updates on what I’m reading on Fable so we can read and enjoy together whatever the book!
I hope you give some of these books a go! Thank you, as always, for joining me on this journey. See you soon!
Signed,
