Yellowface is one of those books that makes you cringe, laugh, and spiral, often all in the same chapter. What I thought would be a straightforward narrative quickly unraveled into sharp satire, complete with an unhinged and wildly unreliable narrator. Kuang doesn’t just tell a story, she holds up a mirror to the publishing industry, to whiteness, to us. It’s messy, uncomfortable, and deeply self-aware in the best way possible.
Annie Bot by Sierra Greer is one of those books that unsettles you. Told through an eerie yet intimate lens, the book examines what it means to be human and the ethical implications of AI. Annie Bot is both a deeply strange and utterly captivating read.
